Description

NIRS and fNIRS applications require a large number of laser and detection channels with high time resolution and high timing stability. Especially in fNIRS, effects under investigation cause changes in the DTOFs of no more than a few picoseconds. It is therefore mandatory that the timing drift and, especially, the low-frequency timing wobble of the TCSPC modules is in the sub-picosecond range. Moreover, a parallel architecture is desirable to achieve high throughput and low channel crosstalk.
The bh NIRS subsystems combine the extraordinarily high timing stability of the SPC-150NX with the high throughput of a multichannel system. The systems are complemented by 8-channel laser modules and 8-channel detector modules. Each laser module contains eight BDS-MM lasers with high power, perfect pulse shape, high intensity stability, and extremely low timing drift. Each detector module contains eight PMCS-150-20 detectors with high sensitivity, fast IRF, extremely low timing shift with the count rate, and low susceptibility to magnetic fields.
